RECLAIMING FINANCE An Experiential Research Dialogue What happens when our consciousness expands—and our way of making a living needs to follow? Many people today experience profound personal transformation. Their priorities shift. Their definition of success changes. Their relationship with money evolves. Yet their economic lives often continue to operate according to inherited models that no longer reflect who they are becoming. This inquiry begins there. But it also begins with a second question: What if finance is much older—and much broader—than our current economic paradigm suggests? At AHNEN, we propose that finance and economy are not merely industries or academic disciplines. They are fundamental human capacities. The capacity to recognize value. The capacity to build trust. The capacity to coordinate relationships. The capacity to steward resources across generations. The capacity to imagine and finance shared futures. Modern finance is one expression of these capacities—not their origin. The Research Over the past several years, through The Path of Cacao, Andrea Falcon has developed an interdisciplinary research inquiry using the cacao value chain and the Indigenous knowledge traditions of Peru’s Sacred Valley of the Incas as a living laboratory for investigating how different civilizations understand value, reciprocity, wealth, trust, and economic coordination. This work has evolved through an ongoing collaboration with Octavio F. Dávila Solari—engineer, educator, researcher of Andean Cosmovision, founder of Astrohumanística, and Andean Pampamisayoq—whose work has contributed to interpreting and articulating the economic principles embedded within Andean knowledge traditions. Rooted in the traditions of the Quechua peoples of the Andes, this inquiry draws inspiration from ancestral systems of reciprocity, governance, and coordination, as well as knowledge technologies such as the Quipu and the Yupana Inca.
