Terms of Service
By using hackevents.net (the “Service”) you agree to these terms. The Service helps you discover, follow and host tech events in Switzerland. It is free for users and financed through partnerships — no paywall.
1. Accounts & acceptable use
- You're responsible for activity under your account and for keeping it secure.
- Don't abuse the Service: no spam, scraping at scale, malware, harassment, or attempts to break security or rate limits.
- We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these terms.
2. Aggregated event data
- Many events are aggregated from third-party sources; each is attributed to its original source and links back to it.
- We are not the organizer of aggregated events. Details (time, venue, capacity, availability) can change — always confirm on the original page.
- Visitor figures shown as estimates are labelled “~ expected” and are not confirmed counts.
3. Your contributions
- When you submit, host, or suggest corrections to an event, you confirm you have the right to do so and grant hackevents.net a licence to display and distribute that content within the Service.
- You are responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of what you submit.
4. Accurate information — no false data
The integrity of event data is central to the Service. Knowingly submitting false, misleading, or fraudulent information (fake events, incorrect dates/locations, impersonation, inflated figures) is a breach of these terms. Depending on severity and recurrence, we may:
- reverse the change and lower your reputation/karma;
- suspend your ability to edit or host; and
- for repeated or egregious cases, charge a fee of CHF 100 per case to cover the cost of correction and abuse handling.
5. Service “as is” & liability
The Service is provided “as is”, without warranty that event information is complete, accurate, or up to date. To the extent permitted by law, hackevents.net is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the Service or attendance (or non-attendance) of any event.
6. Privacy
We process personal data under Swiss revDSG and the GDPR — see our Privacy notice. You can request data deletion, including via a self-serve magic link, at privacy@hackevents.net.
7. Changes & governing law
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the Service. These terms are governed by Swiss law, with place of jurisdiction in Switzerland, to the extent permitted by mandatory consumer law.
