Nature runs on abundance and redistribution. It overproduces, then gives almost all of it away. Nothing accumulates for long. Our capital system was built to do the opposite. Concentrate, hold, extract. It is very good at it. Somewhere between those two facts is the reason so much money is pledged to nature and so little of it ever arrives. We know this. Most of us have watched it happen from the inside. The people trying to fix it are arriving at a similar answer from very different directions. Stop treating a landscape as a portfolio of unrelated bets, and fund it as one system, where each part makes the others more solvent. Systemic investing, if you want the term for it. Easy to say. Considerably harder to structure, price and get past an investment committee. So let us spend an evening on it. Not on a panel. A collaborative space with those who have skin in the game. What happens We arrive an land. We leave the day behind us and set the foundation for the discussions we want to have. We hear from voices who have tried. Popcorn style stories from several people and organizations that have built and prospered, tried and failed. Some food for thought before we come together. Then we work. The room splits in two. One half takes the money's journey down: how do we get capital to the people doing the work without it being eaten on the way? The other half takes the money that never leaves: billions in Swiss endowments and family offices agree with all of this, and yet almost none of it moves. Draw it, map it, define it. Then we convene, come back together, and conclude on clear next steps and commitments. And finally dinner. We'll continue dream and build together over a shared meal.
