Or staying sane in a frenzied world** Since the advent of transformer models, the cost of being wrong has gone down a lot... That is, if you're just wrong about an experiment you're running or a PoC you're building. But if you let yourself get used to Tab+Accept in your day-to-day, you're not only risking decision fatigue, but also potentially throwing your dopamine response off balance, leading to judgement errors, degrading skill, and maybe even burnout. I'm going to be sharing first-hand experiences and learnings from many others about how they make it work. I'll be pulling in examples from my work, from building a community and conference in Zurich, from mentoring at hackathons with up to 600 participants, and from interacting with hundreds of engineers over the past two years. Let's have an honest conversation about the slot-machine harnesses and what we can do to ensure a sustainable future for our problem-solving brains. 19:50 \~ 20:10 Faris Aziz **Engineering ZurichJS** For the first time, we’re pulling back the curtain on the engineering behind ZurichJS Conf before the conference goes live. This is the story of designing and running a multi-hundred-person international conference as a side project, from the product ideas and operational tooling to the systems that keep tickets affordable, workflows resilient, and a tiny team moving quickly. Across more than 1,000 commits, we’ve had to build, distribute, scale, and continuously iterate on the platform under severe time constraints and limited resources. This talk is about what that actually looked like, the creative product decisions behind it, the shortcuts that worked, the ones that did not, and the lessons from building something that has to operate like a real platform without the team or resources normally behind one. 20:10 onward More drinks & chat We look forward to see you there!
