Join us for our upcoming Android Meetup hosted at **c-base e. V. Berlin** on the **28th**! We have an exciting lineup featuring two tech talks! * **Legally Compliant, Humanly Broken: Mastering Accessibility Subtleties** by Puneet Kala * **Breaking Frozen Frames: Phased Rendering for Feature Rich UIs** by Sinan Kozak Come hang out, learn from experts, network with fellow #AndroidDev, and enjoy the unique atmosphere at c-base! \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- * **7:00 PM** \- Doors Open * **7:30 PM** \- Welcome & Introductions **TALKS** * **7:45 PM - Legally Compliant, Humanly Broken: Mastering Accessibility Subtleties** By Puneet Kala A digital product can score a flawless 100% on automated audits and satisfy every legal requirement, yet still deliver a confusing, fatiguing, or emotionally hollow experience. While frameworks like WCAG and accessibility laws establish an indispensable baseline, they fundamentally cannot legislate human perception, cognitive rhythm, or emotional nuance. The gap between a technically compliant interface and a genuinely intuitive one is paved with micro-decisions that rarely appear on a standard compliance checklist. Consider the subtle layers of meaning lost in everyday design choices. A stylistic typeface might visually convey vital emotional context and tone, yet assistive technology receives only flat, uninflected text. Similarly, a thin-weight font might mathematically satisfy standard contrast formulas while remaining virtually invisible in practice, and over-engineered screen reader labels can turn simple navigation into a barrage of cognitive fatigue. These are not technical compliance violations—they are subtle design, perceptual, and semantic oversights that silently break user trust and effortless interaction. In this talk, we step beyond legal mandates to explore the overlooked craftsmanship of digital accessibility. Attendees will examine how typography conveys unwritten context, why perceptual contrast defies rigid mathematical formulas, and how to eliminate hidden auditory friction like announcement noise and punctuation penalties. You will leave with a refined eye for the invisible friction points in design systems and codebases, along with practical mental models to build interfaces that are not just legally sound, but genuinely empathetic and delightful to use. * **8:30 PM** \- Flea Market & Short Break * **8:45 PM - Breaking Frozen Frames: Phased Rendering for Feature Rich UIs** By Sinan Kozak Feature-rich Compose screens often produce frozen frames when multiple heavy UI sections are composed in a single pass. Users are forced to wait for the entire screen to finish composing before seeing anything meaningful, creating slow and unresponsive first-load moments. This talk presents Phased Compose, a phased rendering technique that splits a large composition into deterministic steps. Instead of generating one long frozen frame, each major section renders in its own phase, allowing meaningful content to appear immediately while remaining parts compose progressively. This approach reduced frozen frames by over 30% on complex screens, without delays or timers. I will explain why existing APIs like PausableComposition and lazy layouts don’t solve first-frame jank, and how Phased Compose provides a general, predictable solution. Attendees will learn how to apply phased rendering to ship smoother startup experiences and eliminate long UI stalls in real apps. * **9:30 PM** \- Social Hour & Networking
