The EMBO Workshop Chemical Biology 2026 runs at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg and in parallel online, and bills itself as the largest and longest-standing conference in its field. Five session tracks cover big data, AI and design; chemical technologies to probe biology; chemical technologies to manipulate biology; chemical synthetic biology; and the RNA world — spanning tool development through to new drug modalities and computational protein design. Keynotes come from Michelle Arkin and William DeGrado (UC San Francisco) and Paola Picotti (ETH Zurich), with speakers drawn from academia and industry across Europe, the US and Asia. On-site registration has closed; virtual registration is open until 1 September 2026.

An EMBO Practical Course at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg, running ten days of hands-on training in advanced imaging, quantitative analysis and complementary biophysical methods. It answers a field reshaped by single-molecule imaging, in situ structural biology and quantitative live-cell microscopy — and by AI-based image analysis that now produces vast, high-dimensional datasets and with them new problems of experimental design, data integration and interpretation. Modules run from introductory microscopy and single-molecule biophysical characterisation through super-resolution and expansion methods to theory for cell biology and image analysis via classical and deep-learning approaches. Scientific organisers are Niccolò Banterle and Thomas Quail (EMBL Heidelberg) with Beth Cimini (Broad Institute); participants bring their own laptop.

LOVE DISRUPTION '26 is LOVEDIS's once-a-year flagship day at the Lokschuppen in Marburg, where the Mittelhessen ecosystem of startups, Mittelstand, research and politics gathers in one building. Around 300 curated guests work across three innovation clusters — Construction, Industry and Health Tech — with AI as the cross-cutting theme, alongside sessions on business succession, European sovereignty in the AI race and sustainable industrial transformation. The day closes out the "Mission Construction" accelerator with partner–startup success stories, kicks off the new Industry batch, and adds a startup showcase, curated matchmaking and an afterparty. Entry is free, but places are limited and curated for a balanced mix of companies, startups, research and politics.
