The EMBO Workshop Chemical Biology 2026 runs at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre in Heidelberg and in parallel online, and bills itself as the largest and longest-standing conference in its field. Five session tracks cover big data, AI and design; chemical technologies to probe biology; chemical technologies to manipulate biology; chemical synthetic biology; and the RNA world — spanning tool development through to new drug modalities and computational protein design. Keynotes come from Michelle Arkin and William DeGrado (UC San Francisco) and Paola Picotti (ETH Zurich), with speakers drawn from academia and industry across Europe, the US and Asia. On-site registration has closed; virtual registration is open until 1 September 2026.

A one-day summit at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg aimed at founders, investors and innovators in health and life sciences, run by DKFZ together with encourageventures. Doors open at 09:00 and the day closes at 17:00, structured as three moderated sessions built around an opening keynote by Martina Pfeifer, a founder keynote after lunch, and an investor keynote in the afternoon. The morning is given over to two pitch blocks, one for early-stage startups and a second for rising startups. Two panel discussions anchor the afternoon: one on the translation of biomedical innovations, with speakers from the National Network Office GCT Germany at BIH, BioLabs and NCT Heidelberg, and one on building high-growth, inclusive ecosystems, with speakers from PAICON, encourageventures and ESMT. The lunch break runs Meet-the-Founders tables and founder-and-investor speed dating, and after closing remarks at 16:00 the programme finishes with open networking until the 17:00 close. Welcome remarks come from Silke Uhrig-Schmidt and Marieke Essers of DKFZ, and the event is kindly supported by InnovationLab and the H3 Health Hub.

It answers a field reshaped by single-molecule imaging, in situ structural biology and quantitative live-cell microscopy — and by AI-based image analysis that now produces vast, high-dimensional datasets and with them new problems of experimental design, data integration and interpretation. Xen Summit is the annual gathering of the Xen Project community, and the 2026 edition runs for three days at the HEADS office in Aschheim, just east of Munich, hosted by Renesas. Two days of technical talks are followed by a third day given over entirely to design sessions, which are working sessions where contributors settle architecture, implementation plans and project direction face to face rather than sit through presentations. The published programme leans heavily on embedded and automotive virtualization, with talks on Xen on Renesas R-Car Gen5 silicon, mixed-criticality workloads, thermal management and the path toward safety certification, alongside a cloud and infrastructure track covering XCP-ng, XenServer nested virtualization and per-guest resource management. Other sessions cover Xen on RISC-V, Arm VHE-always hardware, formal methods, secure inter-domain communication over Argo, and compliance work against DO-178C and IEC 62443. The audience is Xen developers and maintainers, embedded and automotive engineers, cloud and infrastructure practitioners, researchers and students. The summit is hybrid, with standard in-person registration at $200 and a $20 rate for academics and for virtual attendance, plus a community social dinner on the evening of 16 September.

AWS Community Day DACH is a one-day, community-run AWS conference organised by Förderverein AWS Community DACH e.V., the association behind the AWS User Group leaders, AWS Heroes and AWS Community Builders in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It has run since 2017 and the organisers bill it as the number-one community-led AWS event in the DACH region; the 2026 edition takes place at Kosmos Berlin and runs from 8:00 to 18:00. Recent editions have run around 28 expert talks selected from more than 200 submissions, and the day mixes conference sessions with workshops and hands-on labs. Subjects range from serverless architecture to AI-driven analytics, delivered by speakers from the community, with breaks and discussion time built in between sessions. A community-run camp on HTW Saar's Alt-Saarbrücken campus, put on by the Hacksaar/TKS e.V. hackspace together with the AStA of HTW Saar. Across 25–27 September 2026 it fills two and a half days with a talk programme contributed by the attendees themselves, workshops out of the community, a bar running round the clock and an evening programme — the organisers describe the aim as bringing Chaos-scene spirit to Saarbrücken and driving interdisciplinary exchange. SWARC4AI is a three-day iSAQB Advanced Level training on designing software architectures for AI systems, held in person at the entwickler Hub coworking space in Berlin from 9:00 to 17:00 each day. Trainer Jan-Torben Evers covers how AI components differ from classical software and how to integrate machine learning and generative AI into existing systems as hybrid solutions that stay scalable, secure and explainable. The agenda runs through compliance and security topics including the EU AI Act, data protection, adversarial attacks and data poisoning; design patterns for AI systems and their integration into existing architectures; data pipelines and data engineering tooling; and operational quality attributes such as monitoring, resource efficiency and MLOps. A dedicated block deals with system architectures for generative AI, including LLM tooling patterns and retrieval-augmented generation. Theory alternates with hands-on exercises and case studies that apply the concepts to realistic project scenarios. Participants are expected to arrive with a working grounding in machine learning, data processing and software architecture, and the module counts for 10 methodical and 20 technical iSAQB credit points.

Modul DDD is a three-day Domain-driven Design training held in person at the entwickler Hub, a coworking space in a renovated former dairy in Berlin, and led by trainer Matthias Bohlen. The course presents DDD as a way to make software a precise and transformable representation of a business domain, beginning with the domain model and Ubiquitous Language and the tactical building blocks: entities, value objects, aggregates, services, domain events, factories and repositories. It then works from model to code and on into application architecture, covering hexagonal architecture, layered architecture and CQRS, alongside knowledge-crunching techniques such as interviews, event storming and collaborative modelling with domain experts. The closing strand is strategic design, separating models through bounded contexts and subdomains, distinguishing core from supporting and generic domains, and context mapping with shared kernels, anticorruption layers and domain events as an integration pattern. It is aimed at software architects, developers and teams who want to tie business knowledge to architecture; general software development experience is enough, and neither UML nor any specific technology is required. Attendance is capped at 12 people, each day runs from 9:00 to 17:00 with catering and a get-together on the first evening, and the module is iSAQB-accredited for 30 CPSA-A credit points, 20 methodical and 10 communication.
